Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and the MPs of the commission for European integration have held separate discussions with European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, on her working visit to Chisinau November 10-11. Representatives of both the parliamentary majority and the opposition participated in the discussions, which focused on the EU accession process.
Marcel Spatari, the head of the commission for European integration, emphasized that the role of the commission would be to catalyze the accession processes in both parliament and the government. He thanked the commissioner for supporting Moldova in the accession process.
The European Commissioner, for her part, highlighted that the commission for European integration would play a crucial role in the accession process and expressed her openness for close collaboration with the commission members, in order to finalize the accession negotiations by 2028.
At the same time, Marta Kos congratulated Moldova on the progress reflected in the 2025 Enlargement Report. The report, prepared by the European Commission, was presented in Brussels in early November. The document confirms the progress made by Moldova in the process of joining the European Union.
The commission for European integration is one of the largest standing commissions of the parliament, with 11 members. It was established at the beginning of the 12th legislative period, in order to accelerate the EU accession process and to ensure an efficient transposition of European norms into national legislation.
