About 5,500 Moldovans preregister to vote abroad at parliamentary elections due in next autumn
About 5,500 Moldovans have preregistered, in order to vote abroad at the parliamentary elections due in next autumn. The process started on April 22. In total, over the past years, more than 118,000 citizens from over 80 countries have registered to participate in the voting outside the country.
According to data by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the majority of registered citizens are from Italy – approximately 23,000, followed by citizens from Russia – over 18,500, the United Kingdom – 16,448, Germany – 15,112, France – 9,407, Romania – 7,283, Ireland – 5,393 and the USA – 4,696.
The purpose of preregistration is to estimate the number of Moldovans intending to vote abroad, a necessary criterion for setting up polling stations abroad. Citizens who have already registered for previous elections and have not changed their location abroad do not need to re-register.
Citizens who want to vote abroad at the parliamentary elections due on September 28, 2025, can register via the online application "Preliminary Registration", launched by the CEC. Registration will last until August 14, observing the 45-day deadline before election day.
The parliamentary elections will take place on September 28, 2025.
