President Maia Sandu has had a meeting with Moldovan citizens in Vicenza and Modena. During the meeting, the discussion focused on Moldova's accession to the European Union and the Diaspora's contribution to this way.

According to the head of state, even from afar, Moldovan citizens help Moldova through remittances, care and involvement in the country's progress.

"Dear Moldovans from Vicenza and Modena, I was delighted to meet with you in these cities—important centers of Italian industry—where your work supports Italy's economy. And you do much more than that. You help Moldova through remittances, through involvement in the life of the country and through the care you show, even from a distance," said Maia Sandu.

The Moldovan president emphasized that, through their contribution, Moldova succeeded in gaining support to achieve the goal of becoming part of the large European family.

"Because you are respected and appreciated in Italy, you help us gain support for Moldova to become part of the European Union. Thank you for the fact that, where you live and work, Moldova is well represented," Maia Sandu stressed.

President Maia Sandu pays a visit to Italy on July 9–13. In Rome, the head of state participated in the Ukraine Recovery Conference, hosted by Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. At the same time, on the occasion of the visit, the official has a string of meetings with Moldovan citizens residing in Italy.
