DOC // Government's decisions on denouncing seven agreements signed with CIS member states published in Official Journal

The Government's decisions on denouncing seven agreements signed with the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) were published today in the Official Journal.

The authorities state that the denounced agreements are no longer relevant as the Republic of Moldova has not participated in them since the '90s, and many have been denounced by the CIS founders.

One of the denounced agreements is regarding visa-free travel for CIS citizens on the territory of its members. Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi stated that the termination of this document will not affect the travels of Moldovan citizens in CIS countries, as Moldova has bilateral agreements with CIS countries except for two - Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The Russian Federation denounced this agreement in 2000. Kazakhstan in 2001, Turkmenistan in 1999, and Uzbekistan in 2001.

  • Agreement on measures to ensure the improvement of settlements between the economic organizations of CIS member states, concluded in Tashkent on May 15, 1992.
