Moldovan president, after Russian attack on Ukraine, says more support for Ukraine, stronger pressure on Russia – both needed now

President Maia Sandu today issued a message condemning last night's Russian attack on the neighboring country Ukraine. The head of state emphasized that, at this moment, “more support for Ukraine and stronger pressure on Russia” were necessary.

“Russia struck Ukraine again overnight. Lives lost, homes in ruins, families living in fear under missiles and drones. My thanks go to every partner supporting Ukraine. More support for Ukraine and stronger pressure on Russia – both are needed now,” Maia Sandu wrote in a message on the X platform.

Russia last night launched a large-scale attack on more cities of Ukraine, in which at least nine people were killed and dozens more were injured. Five people were killed in Dnipro and 25 were injured following the attacks today early in the morning. Another four people were killed in Kyiv, and at least 51 were injured, 35 of whom are in hospital. The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, said that two high-rise apartment blocks had been hit in the city and fears that people may be trapped under the rubble.
