Washington announces nomination of Joseph Burkhalter as ambassador to Chisinau
The administration of United States President Donald Trump has submitted to the U.S. Senate the nomination of Joseph Burkhalter, from the state of Georgia, for the position of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States to the Republic of Moldova.
Joseph Burkhalter’s name appears on the official list of nominations sent on June 1 to the U.S. Senate for confirmation.
On the same list, Trump administration proposed new ambassadors for several countries, including Azerbaijan, Brazil, Egypt, Serbia and Lithuania.
Currently, the United States Embassy in Chisinau is headed by a chargé d’affaires.
