Alegeri parlamentare 2025

Leaders of Electoral Bloc Alternativa voted today

Co-presidents of the Electoral Bloc Alternativa Alexandru Stoianoglo and Ion Ceban voted today alongside their spouses.

“I voted, first and foremost, for justice, for the future of our country, where the rights and interests of the citizens will be respected, a Moldova where my children and grandchildren will feel safe,” Stoianoglo said.

Also this morning, mayor of Chișinău and one of the leaders of the same electoral bloc, Ion Ceban, voted together with his wife. After casting his vote, Ceban declared that he voted “against fear, misinformation, and division, for the development of Moldova, for the future of the children, and for the professionalism of those in power.”

The mayor emphasized that he voted for solving citizens’ issues in areas such as pensions, salaries, jobs, and for managing migration, as well as for peace and the right to free voting for citizens in the diaspora.

Ion Ceban urged all citizens to participate in the elections.

“The most important thing today is for people to come and vote, to express themselves, and we will defend this place,” he said.

Ion Chicu, co-president of the Electoral Bloc Alternativa, also came to the polls with his wife.

“I voted for us to have a country to be proud of. I voted for the Republic of Moldova, a peaceful state where people understand each other and seek solutions together for the problems we face, respecting each other,” Chicu said after voting.

Today citizens of the Republic of Moldova are expected at the polls to elect representatives in the Legislature.

The Constitution of the Republic of Moldova stipulates that the Parliament is composed of 101 deputies, elected through universal, equal, direct, secret, and freely expressed vote, for a four-year term. The parliamentary elections are conducted based on a proportional system, in a single national constituency, in a single round. Only electoral competitors who pass the threshold—5% for parties, 7% for blocs, 2% for independents—are eligible for the distribution of the 101 mandates.
