Moldova to receive $36.5 million for national security under law adopted in United States

The Republic of Moldova will receive an allocation of $36.5 million to strengthen its national security, after the United States Congress adopted the National Security and Department of State Appropriations Act, a law signed by U.S. President Donald Trump. The decision was taken in Washington as part of the U.S. budget process, and the funding is intended for the current fiscal year.

According to Moldova’s Ambassador to Washington Vlad Kulminski, the Republic of Moldova is the only country in Eastern Europe and Eurasia explicitly mentioned in this law, a fact which, in his view, reflects the level of trust granted by American partners.

“This decision reflects the level of trust and the maturity of the security cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United States,” Vlad Kulminski stated.

The ambassador emphasized that the financial support confirms the strength of the Moldovan–American partnership.

“The White House and Congress are demonstrating a clear commitment to strengthening our capabilities and to preventing risks in a challenging regional context,” he noted.

The allocated funds will be used for several areas considered priorities for the national security of the Republic of Moldova, including energy security, cybersecurity, and increasing institutional resilience, as well as other related fields.

“For Moldova, this support confirms an essential point: investment in peace, stability, and defense capability is recognized and supported by our strategic partners. We continue in this direction, with responsibility and a focus on the safety of our citizens,” the ambassador added.
