Moldovan PM announces main directions of Chisinau-Bucharest agenda

Moldova and Romania have a quite clear common agenda for the next ten years, with the Romanian and Moldovan governments committed to implementing it, so that concrete results are felt by citizens as soon as possible. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today made statements to this effect in Bucharest. He  emphasized that Moldova was building its path alongside European states, with constant support on behalf of Romania.

After the meeting with Romania's Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Alexandru Munteanu said that there was a special relationship between Chisinau and Bucharest, with the catalyst of this heartfelt partnership being the indivisible connection between the people on both banks of the Prut River.

“Romania has never forgotten us; it has had a lot of confidence in our strength, supported us on the European path and made essential investments for Moldova to develop genuine independence. Without hesitation, Romania has continued to promote us, believe in us, and offer us openness. In the past, iron fences were put between us; today we are building bridges, varied and strong bridges – energy interconnection, roads and bridges that are part of common European infrastructure, freedom of movement, increased trade exchanges and mutual investments, direct partnerships between educational institutions,” said Alexandru Munteanu.

The prime minister emphasized that Moldova was building its path alongside European states with constant support on behalf of Romania.

“We have political will. And we have Romania by our side. At every stage, we benefit from Romania's experience and its role as an advocate in European capitals. (...) Our plan is to turn from a country that needs help into a state that will continue to contribute to regional security, energy connectivity in this area and European unity. Moldova is building its path alongside European states with constant support on behalf of Romania. We have much to do together,” concluded Alexandru Munteanu.

The Common Moldova – Romania Agenda, Main Directions

The Moldovan PM unveiled the main directions of the common Romania-Moldova agenda for the next decade, meant to bring concrete results in the lives of citizens:

▪️ Energy interconnection and new infrastructure projects, which will integrate Moldova into European networks.

▪️ Energy independence and active participation in the Vertical Gas Corridor, connecting Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine.

▪️ Expanding cooperation through partnerships in green energy and developing sustainable production capacities.

▪️ Modern roads, bridges and railway connections that bring the two banks of the Prut River closer and strengthen common infrastructure.

▪️ Increasing investments and trade exchanges to develop the economy and create jobs.

▪️ Strengthening cyber and institutional resilience against hybrid risks.

▪️ Joint projects in education and culture, from research and modern schools to artistic collaborations in theater and film.

Prime Minister Munteanu emphasized that all these initiatives had a direct impact on the quality of life of citizens and contribute to strengthening the country's European trajectory.

“Every reconstructed heritage building, every light bulb, every road, every school bus, every bridge, every renovated kindergarten means we are moving in the right direction. All of these together make a significant difference in people's daily lives. The dignified living and peace are the goals that unite us and the cornerstone of our governments' collaboration,” declared the Moldovan PM.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu thanked his Romanian counterpart Ilie Bolojan for the warm welcome in Bucharest, highlighting the special nature of the relationship between the two states and the shared commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership and the European integration of Moldova.

“Mr. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, thank you for the warm welcome. The special relationship between Chisinau and Bucharest is known to everyone. Romania has promoted us, believed in us, and offered us openness. We have ambitious common plans that bring benefits to our citizens. We are building new and strong bridges. The most enduring of them is the accession of Moldova to the European Union. We have political will and we have Romania by our side, with support, experience and a strong voice in European capitals,” said Prime Minister Munteanu during the joint conference with Romanian PM Ilie Bolojan.
