Moldovan president signs decree dismissing defence minister

Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon today signed a decree on dismissing Defence Minister Anatol Salaru. President’s political adviser and spokesman Ion Ceban confirmed the information on the matter.

“The document enters into force today. The government is to submit another candidate to president in order to appoint a new minister,” the quoted source also reads.

On 12 December 2016, the Liberal Party withdrew political support to Anatol Salaru, and PL leader Mihai Ghimpu asked the premier for dismissing him from the office. Subsequently, the PL national council dismissed Salaru from the office of first deputy head of the political formation, remaining just as a party member.
