New head of SIS introduced to staff

Chisinau, 26 June /MOLDPRES/- Alexandru Esaulenco, new Director of the Intelligence and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova, was today by President Igor Dodon to the staff.

Also today, during the same official ceremony, the president introduced new deputy head of SIS Artur Gumeniuc.

"I expressed my conviction that they as professionals with experience will succeed in carrying out the defense of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, I reiterated the importance that all law enforcement bodies, including the Intelligence and Security Service, should be removed from political influence and operate only on the basis of national interests of Moldova, and the leadership of the Service should be nominated only on grounds of professionalism and patriotism,” the head of state said.

On 25 June, the parliament appointed Alexandru Esaulenco as SIS director. Also, following the proposal of Esaulenco, the plenum appointed Artur Gumeniuc as deputy head of SIS.

Alexandr Esaulenco is 42 years old and since November 2018 he has served as deputy head of SIS.
