VIDEO // Pupils of ninth, 12th forms of lyceums from Moldova to be able to test digital competencies

Ninth and twelfth-grade pupils will be able to test their digital competencies at a national assessment. The process was launched by the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), in partnership with the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation, marking a first for our country. Pupils willing to participate in the assessment can register until November 7.

The initiative was launched to provide young people with official recognition of their level of digital literacy—a skill increasingly sought after on the job market and essential for any modern educational journey.

Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said that the testing would be organized throughout November, describing it as “a real opportunity for pupils for self-discovery and confirmation of digital competencies, which are becoming more significant in today's world.”

“We want every young person to be able to test his/her level of digital literacy, receive an officially recognized certificate, and understand how to better leverage these skills in the future. This assessment is not an exam. It is a real opportunity for self-discovery and confirmation of competencies that matter increasingly in the world today. Each participant will receive a personalized report, outlining strengths and areas for improvement— a useful tool for any decision regarding studies or career,” said Dan Perciun.

The assessment will be conducted only for pupils who explicitly request it. Interested pupils can register by filling in a form.

Testing will be conducted online on the www.md.brio.ro platform from any device— laptop, computer, tablet or smartphone.

Testing sessions will be organized under the guidance of teaching staff, who will provide technical support throughout the process. Each student will receive a single access code from their school, necessary for authentication on the platform. After entering the code and verifying the data, the pupils will be directed to the testing page, where they can begin the test only on the scheduled day. The test includes multiple-choice items, each with four answer options, of which only one is correct.

Following the session, each pupil will receive an individual evaluation report showing the level of digital competencies, strengths and areas requiring improvement. Based on the results, pupils will be classified into one of three competency levels—elementary, intermediate or advanced. The certificate got can be used for admission to lyceum education and later for the equivalence of certain courses in university programmes or other forms of education.
