VIDEO // Prime Minister announces three strong messages for visit to Brussels
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu announced that he and his team are visiting Brussels with three clear messages: Moldova is in full transformation into a European state at full speed, we have a clear plan to ensure sustainable economic growth, and we are becoming, through concrete and continuous actions, a contributor to peace and security in the region.
"We are heading to Brussels with the team to discuss government priorities and new ways through which, with the help of the EU, we can advance rapidly in the necessary reforms," stated Alexandru Munteanu.
The first message announced by the Prime Minister refers to the fact that "Moldova is in full transformation into a European state at full speed."
"We have made remarkable progress over the last year and want to open negotiation chapters as soon as possible, because enlargement is a merit-based process, and each country is evaluated based on its own progress," said Alexandru Munteanu.
The second message outlined by Prime Minister Munteanu is that Chișinău authorities have a clear plan to ensure sustainable economic growth.
"This includes focused actions: stimulating more investments and innovations, expanding domestic energy production and renewable sources, transforming information technologies into a growth hub, redirecting exports to services, with the aim to increase exports and sectors with high value-added products, gradual and continuous increase of real wages. Moreover, we aim to have even greater inclusion in the EU's multi-annual financial framework for 2028-2034," the Prime Minister said.
In addition, the Prime Minister mentioned that the third message conveyed is that the Republic of Moldova, through concrete and ongoing actions, is becoming a contributor to peace and security in the region.
"We are the first state to join the European Security and Defense Partnership. We are part of the European Peace Facility. We benefit from the support of an EU Civilian Partnership Mission in Chișinău and are the first country to have benefited from rapid response teams to hybrid threats to strengthen institutions and democracy. In fact, Moldova actively contributes and shares lessons learned for countering these threats. Our intention is to integrate into European initiatives to ensure peace and security for every family on the European continent. The benefits for citizens must be felt in everyday life," he said.
In Brussels, Alexandru Munteanu will participate in the first forum organized by Commissioner Marta Kos regarding enlargement and will speak about accession as a joint investment in the stability, security, and prosperity of the entire European continent. "Moldova's voice is important in this collective effort through which we build a strong and united Europe," stated Alexandru Munteanu.
The official will also be present at the European Business Summit, where he will present our country's vision on how Moldova can be transformed into a credible partner, open to investment and ready to fully integrate into the single European market.
At the same time, Alexandru Munteanu added that he will have several meetings in Brussels tomorrow, including with European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas, and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will meet with Romanian deputies and participate in a discussion with diaspora representatives.
"Our message everywhere will be firm. Moldova has demonstrated through concrete actions that it is capable and prepared to fulfill all necessary commitments to become a European state and a contributor to the European economy and security," concluded Alexandru Munteanu.
Munteanu's visit comes after the European Commission presented the annual enlargement report at the beginning of November, confirming the highest pace of progress for the Republic of Moldova since obtaining candidate status. According to the assessment, Chișinău has made progress in all 33 negotiation chapters, 19 of which have advanced to a higher level of readiness compared to the previous year.
This is the second foreign visit of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu since the new government took office. The first visit took place on November 13, in Bucharest, where Alexandru Munteanu had meetings with several officials.
