Head of State welcomes peace talks in Jeddah
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu welcomed peace talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and efforts for a just and sustainable peace.
In a message posted on platform X, the president said 'Moldova appreciates the commitment of the USA and Ukraine, including the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire.'
'The road to peace requires courage and real security guarantees for Ukraine,' Sandu concluded.
Yesterday, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, important discussions took place between the Ukrainian delegation and American officials regarding solutions related to peace in Ukraine.
Ukraine agreed to accept a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire and to take measures for the restoration of durable peace after the Russian invasion.
The United States will communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is key to achieving peace.
In a message, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote that 'the Ukrainian proposal for this meeting with the Americans included three aspects: calm in the air - no missiles, bombs, long-range drones, calm at sea, and real confidence-building measures in this situation where diplomacy continues, primarily through the release of prisoners.'
'Today, in the conversation, the American side proposed to immediately take a step forward and try for 30 days a complete ceasefire - not just on missiles, drones and bombs, not just in the Black Sea, but along the entire front line. Ukraine accepts this proposal, we consider it positive and we are ready to take this step. The United States must persuade Russia to do the same. An important element of today's discussion is America's willingness to resume defensive support for Ukraine, including intelligence assistance,' Zelensky wrote.
