How Moldovan voters cast votes in Romania's presidential election

Most Moldovans with Romanian citizenship who participated in the presidential elections in Romania voted for independent candidate Nicușor Dan. He received 52.63% or 47,630 of the votes cast by voters from our country.

Crin Antonescu obtained 19,630 votes, or 21.69%. In third place, with 11,282 votes, or 12.47% was AUR party candidate George Simion. Elena Lasconi (Save Romania Union) garnered 8,686 votes or 9.6%. She is followed by independent candidate Victor Ponta, with 1,990 votes or 2.2%.

For the Romanian presidential elections, 64 polling stations were opened in our country. The voting took place over three days. During this period, about 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship exercised their right to vote in the Republic of Moldova, exceeding a new record in terms of voter turnout.

Therefore, in the current election, the turnout in the Republic of Moldova was higher than in the elections on November 24 last year, when approximately 81,000 Romanian citizens voted in our country.

After the centralization of all reports from Sunday's presidential elections in Romania, George Simion picked up over 3.8 million votes or 40.96%. Nicuşor Dan obtained 20.99% of the votes, while Crin Antonescu has 20.07%. Thus, George Simion and Nicușor Dan advance to the second round, which will take place on May 18.
