U.S. Secretary of State congratulates Moldova on 35th anniversary of Independence
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has sent congratulations to the people of the Republic of Moldova on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of its Independence, reaffirming Washington’s commitment to the country’s sovereignty and independence.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of the Republic of Moldova on the anniversary of your independence,” said Marco Rubio.
The secretary of state emphasized that the United States was determined to further strengthen its partnership with the Republic of Moldova. According to Rubio, over the past year, the two countries have deepened their cooperation in a range of areas of common interest.
“We have expanded economic relations, strengthened border security and worked together to promote stability in the region,” the U.S. official noted.
Marco Rubio stressed that, in the context of the 35th anniversary of freedom, the United States stayed committed to supporting the Moldovan people and to upholding the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova.
The U.S. Secretary of State also conveyed wishes of peace, prosperity, and progress to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
The Republic of Moldova is celebrating Independence Day today. The Declaration of Independence was adopted by Parliament on August 27, 1991.
