Ukrainian foreign affairs minister says happy Moldova with Ukraine on way to EU
Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ - We are happy that Moldova is with us on this way, as the European Union means well-being for the citizens, possibilities of development for the economy and opportunities of cooperation for neighbours. Foreign Affairs Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha has made statements to this effect at a joint news conference with Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi. The two officials committed to act in coordinated way, with will and determination for the advancement on the European dimension.
At the joint news conference, the Moldovan diplomacy head reconfirmed Moldova’s firm support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, unity and independence of Ukraine within the internationally recognized borders.
„Our country condemns resolutely the unprovoked, illegitimate armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine, an aggression accompanied by multiple war crimes, losses of human lives, occupation of territories and massive destruction of infrastructure. Since the beginning of the war, Moldova has been with Ukraine and supports it within all international forums and platforms. In this context, I want to particularly reconfirm the full support for the Peace Formula proposed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a formula which is the only way towards a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace,’’ Popsoi noted.
Also, the Moldovan minister reiterated Moldova’s firm will to further help those over 125,000 Ukrainian citizens who had taken refuge to Moldova, through providing of social assistance, schooling of children, employment, providing of humanitarian aid.
„We are happy that Moldova is with us on this road, as the European Union means well-being for citizens, possibilities of development for the economy and opportunities of cooperation for neighbours. The main thing is for us to believe in success and not give Russia possibility to turn us off this way,’’ Minister Andrii Sybiha said.
The Ukrainian diplomacy head also referred to the importance of coordinated measures between both countries for combating the hybrid threats.
„Ukraine is with Moldova in combating the Russian misinformation. At the today’s discussions, we coordinated our actions for its combating both nationally and regionally. As long as Ukraine resists, Moldova is in safety,’’ Sybiha stressed.
The Kiev official reaffirmed Ukraine’s support for identifying a solution to the Transnistrian settlement. ‘’The Transnistrian region is Moldova and Russia must withdraw its army from there. Ukraine will stay, in continuation, with Moldova in the process of negotiations,’’ the Ukrainian minister said.
Foreign Affairs Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha today paid his first working visit to Moldova, at an invitation by Deputy PM, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi.
