Bad weather in June causes damage over MDL 16 million in Moldova
Chisinau, 02 July /MOLDPRES/ – The torrential rains in June affected hundreds of hectares of agricultural land, destroyed 4 bridges and also 7 km of road.
The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), Liliana Puscasu, said that specialists from territorial commissions for exceptional situations estimated the material damages caused by torrential rains in June.
"According to collected info, rainfall affected 399 ha of vineyards, 280 ha of orchards, 618 ha of maize, 421 ha of wheat, 209 ha of barley and 200 ha of colza. Moreover, rains affected over 145 ha of vegetables," said Puscasu.
She added that strong rains destroyed 4 bridges and 7 km of road.
According to estimations made by IGSU specialists, precipitation caused damage amounting up MDL 16 million 163 thousand in agrarian sector. Most damage was recorded in Comrat, Vulcanesti, Telenesti, Sangerei, Edinet and Causeni districts.
