Moldovan students awarded at international robotics competition

Moldovan students were awarded at an international robotics competition held in Greece. The team from our country created a prototype of an intelligent net designed to prevent the accidental capture of marine animals in fishing nets.

Our country was represented by Sirius team from Socrate High School of Modern Languages and Information Technologies in Chisinau. They won second place in the Innovation Project category at FIRST LEGO League Open International Championship 2025.

The event brought together 50 teams from around the world. The Moldovan students competed alongside teenagers from Greece, Germany, Estonia, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Spain, the USA, Switzerland, Hungary, Belgium, New Zealand, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Romania, Canada, Austria, Ireland, Slovakia, Croatia and France.

The team created and presented to the jury a prototype of an intelligent net equipped with state-of-the-art sensors that emit sounds intended to keep marine animals away and prevent their accidental capture in fishing nets, without affecting fishing activity. The innovation was validated and appreciated by experts from the Naval Agency of the Republic of Moldova, VARD shipyard in Braila (Romania), fishermen from Giurgiulesti and specialists in microelectronics.

FIRST LEGO League Open International Championship 2025 took place on May 2-4 in Greece.
