Chisinau Airport announces high traffic during winter holidays
The administration of the Eugen Doga International Airport – Chisinau has urged travelers to arrive at the terminal three hours before their planned flight. This early arrival will allow travelers to complete all pre-travel procedures without rush.
It is also important for individuals to be prepared for security checks.
"Liquids and cosmetics must be in containers of no more than 100 ml, in a transparent bag of no more than one liter. Remove laptops and tablets from hand luggage. Avoid prohibited items, such as knives, lighters and others. Choose comfortable clothing. Also, make sure your valid documents are at hand: passport, ID card, flight ticket. Foreign citizens are advised to make sure that they have the documents justifying the purpose of their travel," said the airport.
Measures to streamline traffic are also applied at border posts with Romania and Ukraine. Head of the Public Relations Section of the Customs Service Tatiana Sompol has told MOLDPRES that the institution's employees monitored the flow of travelers—data on waiting times and peak periods are constantly collected and analyzed. Actions are synchronized between operational teams in the field and are permanently coordinated with border and customs authorities in Romania and Ukraine.
"Authorities have ordered the reinforcement of control personnel and frontline officials are supported by mobilizing available resources at maximum capacity. At the same time, infrastructure is being optimized, with additional control lanes being opened, and where necessary, the Reverse procedure is applied—redirecting traffic directions. Likewise, the separation of transport flows is applied—the distinct direction of trucks, cars and buses, which contributes to a more efficient organization of traffic," noted Tatiana Sompol.
Additionally, to ensure efficient and comfortable border crossing, the Customs Service and Border Police provide a string of recommendations for travelers. Therefore, to minimize the time of border crossing, authorities recommend using all existing crossing points, in order to not overload only some of them and to avoid queue formation.
"It is necessary to check the validity and status of the travel document based on which the state border is crossed. Moreover, you can consult the Online Traffic at Border Customs Posts application on the official page of the Customs Service, in order to know the real-time situation at border crossing posts," added Tatiana Sompol.
Additionally, the Customs Service's Unified Call Center is operational 24/7 at the number: +373 22 78-88-88 and the Border Police Call Center at the number: + 373 22 259 717, where each citizen can receive consultation on the situation at the border, crossing rules and other public information.
According to the customs authority, the increased flow of travelers is expected until January 15, this year.
