Chisinau Airport expands flights' network: four new destinations to be operated

The Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport is expanding its flights’ network. An airline will launch direct flights from Chișinău to four new destinations.

Passengers will be able to fly to the city of Cologne, Germany; Rimini, Italy; Rhodes, Greece; and EuroAirport Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg, France.

The new connections will be introduced in stages, starting in May and June 2026, strengthening Moldova’s connectivity with some of the most important economic and tourist centers of Europe. More precisely, routes to Cologne and Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg will start in May, while the ones to Rhodes and Rimini will begin in June.

The administrator of the Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport, Sergiu Spoiala, said that “the development of the network of routes operated by airlines at the Chisinau Airport reflects the positive dynamics in air traffic demand and the role of the airport in ensuring regional and European connectivity.”

“The new routes contribute to increasing direct access to key markets, diversifying the air transport offer and aligning with the airport’s strategic objectives regarding operational efficiency, infrastructure’s development and improvement of passengers’ experience,” said Sergiu Spoiala.

The new routes complement the airline’s existing network in Chișinău and provide passengers with direct access to European destinations of strategic importance for both leisure and business travel.

The Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport returned to state management in the spring of 2023. The authorities have previously announced the modernization of the airport’s infrastructure and the attraction of investments to enhance the capacity and services’ quality, under a state-managed, transparent regime oriented toward the public interest.

Presently, the airport ranks among the best-performing airports in Europe in the category of 1–10 million passengers per year. Growth is supported by the expansion of the routes’ network and the increase in the number of airlines, which rose from 20 in 2022 to 33 in 2024.
