Difficult traffic on more roads of Moldova because of snow, sleet
The road traffic today evening is difficult on more routes of Moldova, because of adverse weather conditions recorded in recent hours, characterized by sleet and snowfall.
According to the Police, the road surface is slippery and, on certain sections, travel is difficult, which increases the risk of traffic accidents. Police crews are deployed in the field, monitoring the traffic situation and intervening to prevent incidents and ensure smooth traffic flow.
In the context, drivers are urged to adjust their speed to road conditions, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, avoid trips that are not strictly necessary and make sure their vehicles are properly equipped for the cold season.
The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued a Yellow Code weather alert, valid as of January 30, 2026, 18:00 till January 31, 2026, 13:00, regarding intensifying winds across the territory of Moldova.
The weather will turn significantly colder in the coming days and mixed precipitation will create dangerous black ice and icy conditions on roads and sidewalks. According to the weather forecast for the period January 30–31, rain will gradually turn into sleet and snow and the average daily air temperature will drop by 5–7 degrees Celsius.
