Education Ministry launches national campaign to promote university studies, Study in Moldova

The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) has launched the national campaign to promote university studies in Moldova, titled Study in Moldova, in order to present the advantages offered by higher education institutions of our country and to convince as many young people as possible to continue their studies at home. As part of the campaign, pupils’ visits to universities and university fairs will be organized in more localities across the country. The campaign will culminate in a festive university fair, due at the Chisinau Arena on May 24.

Thus, 12,000 pupils will visit universities in the country by next May, in order to explore opportunities they offer and review their educational programmes. At the same time, representatives of the universities will travel to schools around the country, in order to present students with relevant information about study processes. The programme of activities is complemented by eight university fairs organized in more settlements of the country. The events will culminate in a fair held at the Chisinau Arena on May 24, which is expected to gather around 3,000 young people.

“In the coming period, we will carry out a communication campaign coupled with on-site activities. We will have 12,000 pupils visiting our universities starting tomorrow and until the end of May. At the same time, there will be visits from our universities to schools, with targeted presentations. Last year, we had 150 such visits; this year, we intend to break that record and have even more. The entire campaign will culminate on May 24 with a festive university fair at the Chisinau Arena, where we will be expecting more than 3,000 graduates. Starting in February, across the whole country, there will be university fairs—eight in total—attended by representatives of the universities, so that we can disseminate as widely as possible information about the opportunities in our country. We will certainly all benefit, if we manage to convince as many young people as possible to choose an academic career here, at home,” said Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun at the news conference launching the campaign.

The minister noted that the first edition of the campaign, held last year, had been a real success.

“We managed to have 11 per cent more young people admitted to our universities than in 2024. We reached the figure of 6 out of 10 high school graduates in of Moldova who chose to continue their studies at home. The strategic goal is that by 2028–2029, at least 7 out of 10 graduates will choose to continue their studies here,” said Dan Perciun.

Messages promoting studies in Moldova were also delivered by Rector of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova Alexandru Stratan and Rector of the Alecu Russo State University of Balti, Natalia Gasitoi.

According to the MEC, for the 2025–2026 academic year, 21,052 students were admitted, of whom 15,925 to bachelor’s programmes and 5,127 - to master’s programmes.
