
Foreign Ministry provides details on railway accident in Iași
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) reports that on the evening of 11 April 2025, near the town of Podu Iloaiei, Iași County, Romania, a serious accident occurred involving a car registered in Moldova and a passenger train on Iași – Hârlău route. The accident resulted in one woman dead and two injured.
According to the MAE, the two injured individuals, the driver and a passenger were transported in critical condition to Sfântul Spiridon emergency hospital in Iași, with multiple severe traumas.
The ministr notes that the staff of the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Iași is in constant contact with Romanian authorities and the victims' relatives, providing consular assistance, including medical care and repatriation procedures.
