Raids made in north Moldova city in file on illegal financing of parties

Officers from the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA), jointly with the Balti Municipality’s Prosecutor's Office, are conducting over 70 searches across Moldova, including in Chisinau, in a criminal case concerning suspicions of illegal financing of political parties under aggravated circumstances.

According to the CNA, preliminary investigations show the existence of a group suspected of orchestrating a coordinated criminal plan during the pre-election period, before the parliamentary elections. Among those targeted, there are decision-makers affiliated with political groups, members and sympathizers who are suspected of illegally channeling financial resources to support parties and electoral contenders.

Following the searches, financial resources in various currencies, information storage devices, documents and other relevant materials for the investigation were seized.

The CNA encourages citizens to report any suspicious actions related to electoral bribery and illegal financing of political parties to the Hotline at +373 78 710 116 or the National Anti-Corruption Line at 0800 55555.
