Heavy-goods traffic suspended in Moldova till February 7 morning
Traffic for heavy-goods vehicles (HGVs) has been suspended February 7 at 06:00. The measure is being applied, in order to ensure road safety and the smooth flow of traffic.
Police also recommend that drivers do not travel at night and remain at home until traffic resumes.
“In the event of being stopped in traffic, drivers are urged to park in safe areas marked for stopping, in order to avoid blocking the road. The police will inform drivers already in traffic about the resumption of movement,” said the General Police Inspectorate (IGP).
The circulation of HGVs on the entire national roads’ network was halted today afternoon. The measure was taken after an assessment of the situation together with the company “Drumuri” (Roads), in order to allow a rapid and safe intervention by field teams.
Also, today afternoon, the authorities suspended the entry of trucks into Moldova. The decision was made to prevent risks to road safety, in the context of slippery road surfaces.
Given the difficult weather conditions, drivers are asked to avoid non-essential travel and to follow the instructions of police officers in the field. The authorities recommend that citizens plan their journeys carefully, exercise maximum caution and prioritize safety in conditions of black ice and icy roads.
