Intelligence and Security Service rejects allegations made by Russian Federation authorities

The Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) of the Republic of Moldova rejects the allegations made by the authorities of the Russian Federation, after the Federal Security Service of Russia announced that a “presumed agent of the special services of the Republic of Moldova” had been detained in Moscow, who allegedly came to Russia “to carry out a mission that would be directed against the security of the Russian state”.

The SIS said “such statements represent an attempt to manipulate public opinion and to increase regional tensions”.

“The Intelligence and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova rejects the allegations made by the authorities of the Russian Federation. Such statements represent an attempt to manipulate public opinion and to increase regional tensions. The institution carries out its activity in accordance with national legislation and international law,” the SIS Press Service communicated.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that actions to verify the information are currently being undertaken, including through the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow.

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation announced today that in Moscow a “presumed agent of the special services of the Republic of Moldova” was detained, who allegedly came to Russia “to carry out a mission that would be directed against the security of the Russian state”.
