Middle – aged man dies after being caught under sandy pile in southern city of Moldova

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ – The employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) recovered in the afternoon of 23 October the inanimate body of a 43-year-old man covered by a pile of sand in a quarry near locality Chioselia Mare, Cahul district. The attempts of firefighters to save the man lasted more than 8 hours.

The head of the Press Service of IGSU, Liliana Puscasu, specified that the call for rescue aid was reached around 6:52. IGSU employees were asked to intervene near the village Chioselia Mare, Cahul district, after a pile of sand fell over a man in a quarry past the village.

"There were more crews of rescuers and firemen on the spot with three units of technical means. Over several hours, IGSU employees carried out works for the recovery of the person, the inanimate body being removed only at 15:50," said Puscasu.

All the circumstances of the case are to be determined by law enforcement bodies.
