Heatwave protection measures at border crossings: Customs Service recommendations for travelers
The Customs Service urges all participants in cross-border traffic to follow heatwave protection measures and pay increased attention to their health during travel. The recommendations come in the context of the high temperatures recorded in recent days.
According to the Customs Service, during the summer season, more and more citizens cross the border to go on vacation, to work, to visit, or for other trips. For this reason, in addition to measures taken to ease traffic flow at border customs posts, customs officers provide water to individuals who need hydration while crossing the border.
“If, while you are at a customs post, you need water or assistance, do not hesitate to contact the customs officers. They will provide the necessary assistance, within the limits of their competence,” the Customs Service announced.
At the same time, the authorities recommend that travelers obtain information in advance about the rules for crossing the border and, when possible, choose less crowded border customs posts. This can significantly reduce waiting times at the border.
Citizens who need additional information or advice can contact the Customs Service Single Call Center at 0 22 78 88 88. In case of an emergency or if you observe a person in need of medical assistance, immediately call the single emergency number 112.
The Republic of Moldova is under yellow, orange, and red heatwave warnings, in effect until July 1. According to meteorologists, maximum temperatures will reach up to +41 degrees Celsius. At the same time, minimum temperatures will not drop below 20°C, a characteristic typical of tropical nights.
