Moldovan environment minister reiterates call for participation in national reforestation campaign due to start on November 15
Environment Minister Gheorghe Hajder, before the today’s government meeting, reiterated the invitation to journalists, cabinet members and citizens to join the national reforestation campaign #ForestGeneration of this autumn.
Attendees received acorns and bookmarks with QR codes, allowing them to register to participate in the planting activities.
“The gesture symbolizes a personal commitment to environmental protection and support for a common goal: increasing the forested areas in Moldova,” said Gheorghe Hajder.
The activities will start on November 15, in Mihailovca, Cimislia, but will also take place in other areas across the country, with the land, saplings and equipment already prepared. Minister Hajder emphasized that locations would be available in each district and encouraged citizens to participate: “Come and plant a forest near your home.”
Registration for the campaign is made by visiting the Environment Ministry’s website, in the section Participate in Planting - Autumn 2025, where interested people can select the nearest location and contact the Moldsilva Agency team.
“This autumn, we aim to plant over 3,500 hectares of forest. Come and lend a hand. The campaign promotes community involvement and environmental responsibility, inviting each citizen to contribute to the country's sustainable development and become part of #ForestGeneration,” the head of the environmental authority noted.
The #ForestGeneration programme aims to plant 145,000 hectares of forest by 2032. In the first two years since its launch, more than 16,000 hectares have been reforested, and by the end of this year, it is estimated that 20,000 hectares will be reached.
