Moldova 1 TV channel rebroadcast in Transnistria after almost 33 years

TV channel Moldova 1 is now broadcasting on the left bank of the Dniester after a nearly 33-year break. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian made the statement today. He voiced hope for resuming "a normal dialogue with Tiraspol".

'After nearly 33 years of absence, Moldova 1 has reappeared in the eastern districts of the country. We hope to resume a normal dialogue with those in Tiraspol, a dialogue we have awaited for a long time. Any crisis can indeed lead us to find solutions that are lasting, not just 10-day solutions, not solutions for two months. We need solutions that allow us to overcome these problems for a significant period,' Serebrian said.

Government Spokesperson Daniel Vodă said that broadcasting Moldova 1 in Transnistria is important for diversifying the media sources available to the region's residents.

'We will continue to work so that all citizens in the Republic of Moldova have access to objective and public interest information, including the fact that the EU has been sending humanitarian aid to the region,' Daniel Vodă told the press.

MP Roman Roșca posted a message with a photo on social media on Tuesday, saying that Moldova 1 started being broadcast in Bender/Tighina via local cable.
