Moldova and United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to mutually recognize driving licenses
Driving licenses issued by the authorities in the Republic of Moldova will be recognized in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and vice versa. Members of the parliamentary committee on foreign policy and European integration have approved the advisory opinion for concluding a Memorandum to this effect.
The document aims to facilitate the movement of Moldovan and British citizens who hold driving licenses issued by both the authorities of the Republic of Moldova and those of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The exchange of driving licenses will be ensured based on equal and mutually beneficial conditions, provided in the Memorandum to be concluded.
As a result, Moldovan citizens will have improved access to the labor market in the United Kingdom, and the Moldovan-British economic relations will be strengthened.
According to the procedure, the Memorandum of Understanding is to be ratified by Parliament. So far, Moldova has concluded similar agreements with four other countries – Lithuania, Turkey, Italy and Spain.
