Moldova might buy 400,000 doses of anti-COVID vaccine from China
Chisinau, 9 April /MOLDPRES/ - The committee on coordinating the immunization against COVID-19 is to initiate the procedure of procurement of 400,000 doses of CoronaVac vaccine, produced by the Sinovac Company from China. The Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) made statements to this effect today.
According to MSMPS, the committee on coordinating the immunization against COVID-19 held a meeting today. The participants in the event considered the bid of the anti-COVID vaccine producer, SINOVAC BIOTECH LIMITED from China – the only producer of vaccines to answer the requests by the Centre for Centralized Public Procurements in Health (CAPCS) to vaccine producers.
Thus, after analyzing the bid, the Committee members ruled to directly buy, under contract, 400,000 doses of CoronaVac vaccine, produced by SINOVAC, after all conditions of contracting are established.
The CoronaVac vaccine is approved in 17 countries, including Ukraine. The vaccine is administered in muscle, in two doses, at a time interval of 28 days. The vaccine is preserved at temperatures of +2 - +8 Celsius degrees.
So far, CAPCS has launched two procurement procedures: negotiations without preliminary publication of the announcement of participation and open auction, during which no bid was made. Invitations were submitted to the following producers of anti-COVID-19 vaccine: Pfizer Inc, Moderna Inc, Johnson & Johnson Inc, AstraZeneca PLC, Sinopharm Group Co. Ltd, Russian Direct Investment Fund, Serum Institute of India, AstraZeneca/SK Bioscience Co.Ltd, Sinovac Biotech Ltd. and CanSino Biologics Inc.
The authorities also informed that they continued direct negotiations exclusively with the producers of anti-COVID vaccine, in order to supply Moldova with doses of vaccine, in the context of the implementation of the national plan on immunization against COVID-19.
