Moldova's Superior Council of Magistracy finishes contest for filling vacant positions of judge

The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) today finished the contest to fill vacant positions of judge available in courts across Moldova. During this process, 117 candidates submitted their applications for 56 available positions.

Minister of Justice Veronica Mihailov-Moraru emphasized that the best candidates, evaluated through a rigorous and transparent process, would join the judiciary system.

"The academic performances achieved at the National Institute of Justice accounted for 60 per cent of the final decision, while the evaluations by the College for the selection and evaluation of judges and the CSM each had a 20-per cent weight. I congratulate the judges who passed the contest," said Veronica Mihailov-Moraru.

The official appreciated the fact that more and more professionals chose to contribute to the development of a modern and efficient justice system.

"A functional justice system is essential for a fair society. By filling the judge positions, we enhance access to justice, accelerate the speed of cases’ resolution, and guarantee the protection of citizens' rights," Veronica Mihailov-Moraru said.

The CSM held the contest for filling vacant judge positions on July 23-25, 2025. Based on the final accumulated score, candidates with the highest scores will be able to choose the court where they are to work.
