
Veaceslav Platon released on bail
Veaceslav Platon has been released on bail after fulfilling the conditions set by the British court. The Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) of made statements to this effect.
According to PG, the British court imposed a string of restrictions due to be observed by Veaceslav Platon.
“Once the conditions set in the British court's ruling fulfilled, the bail release of Veaceslav Platon was enforced. At the same time, the court imposed a string of restrictions, including the prohibition of holding international travel documents. Moreover, he is required to report to the police on certain days and at specific times,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
On July 23, the British court accepted the release of Veaceslav Platon on a bail of 330,000 pounds, imposing a series of conditions, including the electronic monitoring.
“Bail release means only the modification of the preventive measure imposed on Veaceslav Platon during the examination of extradition requests initiated by Moldova,” PG noted.
On March 13, 2025, Veaceslav Platon was detained by British authorities. After his detention, preventive arrest was applied to ensure the extradition process. The decision regarding his extradition is set to be made by the British court during November 24-28, 2025.
Veaceslav Platon is prosecuted in the criminal file known as “Laundromat;” he is accused of organizing and leading a criminal organization; organizing the pronouncement of a court's judgment, ruling, decision, or order contrary to the law; organizing abuse of office committed for the benefit of an organized crime ring or a criminal organization; organizing the fabrication, possession and use of false official documents, committed by two or more persons and organizing money laundering by a criminal organization, in particularly large amounts.
