VIDEO // First pictures with Vladimir Plahotniuc, Constantin Tutu brought before court in Athens

The first pictures of the former leader of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM), Vladimir Plahotniuc, and ex-deputy Constantin Tutu, brought before the court in Athens, have appeared on social media, where their hearing is set to take place for possession of forged documents.

The pictures capture the moment they are escorted in front of Greek law-enforcement authorities. So far, Moldovan law authorities have not commented on the published pictures.

The former PDM, Vladimir Plahotniuc, was detained by Greek authorities at Athens International Airport on July 21, shortly before boarding a flight to Dubai. The former deputy Constantin Tutu was also detained alongside him.

The Prosecutor General's Office sent the Greek authorities a request for the extradition of Vladimir Plahotniuc on July 24. Plahotniuc prosecuted in Moldova for the committing of serious offenses, including creating and leading a criminal organization, large-scale fraud and money laundering.
