President of Moldovan Central Electoral Commission says vote voice of each citizen, key to genuine democracy

President of the Central Electoral Commission Angelica Caraman has conveyed a clear and firm message to voters, emphasizing the importance of active participation in the democratic process, not just on voting day, but in everyday civic life.

"We have a clear message for voters and our addresses are not limited to pre-election moments or special occasions. We talk about elections every day and the importance of participation must be constantly emphasized," Angelica Caraman stated in an interview for MOLDPRES.

According to the head of the electoral authority, citizens’ involvement starts at the local level — in mayoralties, at public consultations, by expressing opinions, or participating in meetings of local councils. The same civic spirit should be proved on the election day as well, when each vote cast directly contributes to shaping the future.

"It is essentially about each person's participation, about each person's voice, and about the power of the vote they have. The power of the vote is undeniable. I believe that the last year's results clearly demonstrate this very well, showing that every vote counts," Caraman noted.

She also said that voting is not just a right, but also an essential tool through which citizens influence the direction in which communities, the country and the future of the next generations develop. "Elections are synonymous with democracy. And the most important element of democracy is not the Central Electoral Commission, nor the candidate, but the voter. It is the person who chooses to go to the polls and decide," the CEC president added.

On September 28, regular parliamentary elections will take place in Moldova. Presently, we are in the electoral period, during which the process of registration of  electoral contenders takes place, and all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the proper organization of the elections. The Central Electoral Commission urges citizens to get information from official sources and actively participate in the elections, thus contributing to the strengthening of democracy and the future of the country.
