Moldovan Education Ministry launches campaign inviting pupils to write messages of solidarity to children of Ukraine
The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) today is launching a national solidarity campaign titled, A Letter Is Like a Hug. Thus, pupils in grades 6–12 are invited to write a letter to children in Ukraine, in which they convey a message of encouragement and hope.
The campaign aims to promote empathy, kindness and solidarity among pupils, giving them the opportunity to send good thoughts and messages of support to children of Ukraine.
“The letters don’t have to be long or ‘perfect’. There are no wrong words when they come from the heart. Every line matters, because it sends a clear message: we are not indifferent,” said MEC Secretary of State Valentina Olaru.
The letters will be collected centrally at the local level and will then be forwarded to MEC, which will remit them to the Embassy of Ukraine.
“Some of the letters will also be read or displayed in Moldova, to show that kindness and hope can be shared. Through this initiative, each letter becomes a gesture of solidarity and a symbolic hug sent to the children of Ukraine,” said Valentina Olaru.
The campaign will run until February 24, the day marking four years since the start of the large-scale invasion by the Russian Federation against Ukraine—a war that has profoundly changed the lives of millions of people, with children among the most affected.
