
PHOTO Foster care center for mother - child opened in Chisinau
Chisinau, July 13. /MOLDPRES/- A foster care center for mother-child over the age of 6 was opened today in Chisinau. It will provide shelter and specialized assistance for mothers and children who need protection and safety.
The center was inaugurated with the support of Chisinau city hall, in partnership with UNICEF Moldova and the French Embassy in Chisinau. The service is free and provides security and privacy to beneficiaries. It supports women with children over 6 years who are in difficult situations.
It is managed by the General Directorate for the Protection of Children's Rights of Chisinau. Applicants can be single mothers, minor mothers, victims of domestic violence or human trafficking, low-income families, mothers with children who do not have a home and are in risk situations.
Also, the beneficiaries can be mother-child refugee couples due to the war in Ukraine.
The center works 24/24 and can accommodate seven mother-child couples at the same time, for a period of six months, with the possibility to extendi for another six months if necessary.
Starting from 1 October, the local authorities will ensure the center's activity from the municipal budget.
