Prime Minister: State institutions mobilized across country to protect people’s safety
State institutions are mobilized across the country and are acting in a coordinated manner to clear the roads, maintain the functioning of essential services, and protect people’s safety. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu made the statement in the context of bad weather conditions.
Munteanu announced that the authorities have taken several decisions aimed at reducing risks and facilitating daily activities. Thus, throughout this week, the working day and school hours will start at 9:00 a.m. Depending on their responsibilities, the heads of authorities will decide on the possibility of remote work.
At the same time, economic agents must carry out ice-removal work on the premises adjacent to the buildings they manage.
In addition, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and the National Army will provide support to local public authorities, upon request, in the most affected or dangerous areas, including to ensure access to critical facilities and to protect the population.
According to the Prime Minister, 91 special vehicles and 319 employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations have intervened with measures to prevent and eliminate the consequences of emergency situations.
At the national level, the National Road Administration has deployed 115 technical units to spread over 1,075 tons of road salt and about 295 tons of anti-skid material.
At the same time, electricity distribution system operators are working to repair the faults that have occurred in the network across the country, the head of Government assured.
The emergency pre-hospital medical service received 2,716 calls. After providing emergency medical care, 1,248 patients (985 adults and 263 children) were transported to hospitals around the country.
AMU teams intervened in 11 road accidents. All patients received emergency medical care, and 15 adult patients were transported to hospital for specialized treatment.
At the same time, 265 educational institutions are operating online, 54 in a mixed format, 202 will make up classes at a later date, and 614 are conducting their activities in normal mode, with physical presence.
Munteanu thanked rescuers, road workers, power engineers, police officers and medical staff – who are working in difficult conditions.
“I urge you to show responsibility and solidarity. Take care of those around you – family, friends, neighbors – especially vulnerable people, follow the recommendations of the authorities and avoid unnecessary risks,” the official said.
Alexandru Munteanu assured that the Government will continue to closely monitor the situation and take the necessary decisions so that everyday life can continue in safety.
