Moldova's National Olympic Committee marks 30th anniversary
Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOS) prepares for marking its 30th anniversary of the foundation.
CNOS president Nicolae Juravschi today informed that the National Olympic Committee celebrates the 30th anniversary of its foundation this month. On this occasion, the official noted that, through their performances, the Moldovan sportspeople had made history. ‘’Our sportspeople gave final touches to the national identity through sport and have proved that we are capable to show performance on the international sports stage,’’ Juravschi said.
In the same message, the president of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, made a congratulatory message to the Moldovan Olympic sportspeople. He said that the Moldovan sportspeople promoted the Olympic spirit. ‘’Although Moldova is a small country from the geographic viewpoint, it has proved innumerable times a special passion for sport. The Moldovan sportspeople are the most telling examples in this respect, becoming champions in the hearts of their fellow countrymen, bringing much pride and moments of happiness to the country, thus inspiring the next generations to believe in their dreams in the long run as well,’’ Thomas Bach stressed.
The National Olympic and Sports Committee was founded on 29 January 1991; the organization became member of the International Olympic Committee in 1933. The first head of CNOS was Efim Josanu.
