The Republic of Moldova can be an export and trade hub for the entire region and a platform for access to EU markets. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan made the statement at Fox News Podcasts, hosted by Brian Kilmeade.

The official invited foreign companies to explore the investment opportunities offered by our country.


“Moldova has a small domestic market, so our opportunity is to be a very business-friendly country, positioned as an export and trade hub for the entire region. That is why we warmly welcome investment,” the prime minister emphasized.


Vasile Tofan also noted that the Republic of Moldova could serve as a platform for the future reconstruction process in Ukraine, as well as a platform for access to EU markets.


“We are an EU candidate country, and we hope that by 2030 we will be full members of the Union. We are not a large market, but we are an agile country with much more business-friendly regulations, offering access to the EU market, for example, to American companies. I come from the private sector, and my plan is to focus primarily on the economy, business, and investment, ahead of politics,” Vasile Tofan said.


The prime minister also took the opportunity to thank the American people and the current administration for their direct contribution to the energy security of the Republic of Moldova.


“For example, the U.S. administration helped us build a 400 kV power line connecting us to Romania. It helps us import and export energy, including to Ukraine. Our ambassador to the United States even called it the ‘Trump Liberty Line,’” Vasile Tofan said.


The interview also covered Russia’s war against Ukraine and Russian hybrid attacks against our country and other states in Eastern Europe. Prime Minister Tofan also reiterated that Moldova remains committed to its neutral status and that joining NATO is not on the country’s agenda.

Tofan is visiting New York from September 23 to 26 to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The official will hold several bilateral meetings and deliver a speech before the plenary session of the UN General Assembly.
