
Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi water main to be construct with Germany's help
Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Centru Regional Development Agency (ADR Centru) and the French Company SADE Compagnie Generale de Travaux d'Hydraulique on 1 October signed a construction contract for the carrying out of the water main Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi. The contract marks a significant step within the project, Improvement of the water infrastructure in Central Moldova – one of the biggest projects in the field of water and sewerage supply in Moldova.
The project’s work envisage the building of almost 50 km of water main, a water pumping station in Tuzara and the renovation of more reservoirs. ‘’This project will bring direct benefits for over 30,000 residents of the Straseni and Calarasi cities, as well as from the rural settlements connected to the city networks, ensuring them access to sure and quality drinking water,’’ ADR Centru said.
Through the implementation of this project, ADR Centru is set to improve both the quality of the water distributed and the constant supply in the central region of Moldova. ‘’The Straseni and Calarasi cities, as well as other neighbouring settlements will benefit from modernized infrastructure, which will back the regional development and will contribute to the improvement of the residents’ living standards,’’ the quoted source noted.
This project is carried out with the support of Germany’s government and the KfW Development Bank; the overall value of the contract for the first phase is of 22,090,604 euros, financed in form of grant. The works’ completion deadline is 21 months.
ADR Centru expresses gratitude to the government of Germany for the generous financing and to the KfW Bank for the technical and financial support. ‘’This project is vital for the development of the water infrastructure from the Straseni and Calarasi districts and will contribute to the improvement of the quality and safety of living for tens of thousands of people, as well as to the strategic goal assumed of regionalization of the public services,’’ the ADR Centru director, Ion Pinzari, said.
