New edition of Potters' Fair held in Iurceni, Nisporeni
Chisinau, 12 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Several popular craftsmen exhibited their works at the 31st edition of the Potters and Ceramists Fair, held yesterday in Iurceni village, Nisporeni district.
According to the local authorities, the fair aims to promote the art of pottery through the continuity of the artistic traditions of this craft.
The potters' fair is held every year, on the second Sunday of September. It was initiated in 1988 by the then director of the National Center for Popular Creation, Tudor Colac. In 2018, the award was given to the National Center for the Conservation and Promotion of Intangible Heritage, the successor of the aforementioned institution, to folk craftsman Zaharia Triboi from Ciorești, Nisporeni, for fidelity and the preservation and promotion of this craft.
The event was initiated to promote folk art, expressed in millennial values.
