Bălți–Suceava power line project declared of public utility
The construction works for the 400 kV Bălți–Suceava overhead power line, the modernization of the Bălți 330 kV power station and the establishment of a new Bălți 400 kV station will be declared of public utility of national interest. Parliament approved a draft law in this regard.
The Bălți–Suceava power line will have a length of about 48 km on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and will cross 12 localities, with the installation of 157 poles.
To carry out the works, the Government will identify, through the Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre the owners of the goods that are to be expropriated temporarily or permanently. Compensations will be paid from the state budget through the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects.
The document also provides for some legislative derogations to accelerate administrative processes and the issuance of permits, essential for project implementation.
With a total value of 37 million euros, the project is financed through two equal loans of 14.8 million euros each, provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), as well as a grant of 7.4 million euros from the European Union.
The completion of the works is planned for 2027, and in May, the tender for selecting the company that will execute the project is set to be launched.
