DOC // New prices for last resort supply of electricity and natural gas published in Official Journal

The new prices for last resort supply of electricity and natural gas were published today in the Official Journal. They will enter into force from July 1.

Last resort supply takes place when a consumer is temporarily left without a supplier, as a result of the supplier’s license being withdrawn, its activity ceasing, or the supplier’s inability to fulfill its supply obligations. In such cases, the consumer is automatically taken over by a supplier designated by ANRE, in order to avoid interruption of the delivery of electricity or natural gas.

Thus, in the case of Premier Energy, a price of 3.71 lei per kilowatt-hour has been set for end consumers whose electrical installations are connected to low-voltage distribution networks, compared to the current price of 3.55 lei.

The approved price for “Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord” is 4.16 lei per kilowatt-hour for end consumers whose electrical installations are connected to low-voltage distribution networks, compared to the current tariff of 4 lei.

With regard to natural gas, the ANRE decisions published in the Official Journal set a lower tariff than the current one, at 17.75 lei per cubic meter of gas at the exit points from low-pressure natural gas distribution networks, compared to the previous price of 18.11 lei.

The prices approved by ANRE apply exclusively to consumers under the last resort supply regime and do not affect consumers who benefit from supply services under normal conditions. Thus, the published decisions do not entail changes in electricity prices applied to end consumers, nor in natural gas prices paid by consumers served under the public service.

In the case of electricity, prices for last resort supply are approved quarterly, in accordance with the methodology in force, based on the regulated costs related to the procurement of electricity, transmission and distribution services, as well as the operation of the electricity market. Regarding natural gas, prices for last resort supply are approved monthly, in accordance with the applicable methodology.
