Lithuania closes border crossings with Belarus; Moldova's National Auto Transport Agency warns international road transport operators

The National Auto Transport Agency (ANTA) informs international road transport operators about the decision of Lithuania’s authorities to close the border crossing points with Belarus.

According to official information provided by the Lithuanian side, the measure was taken for national security reasons, in the context of repeated incidents at the border caused by suspicious meteorological balloons coming from Belarus.

The Vilnius authorities said that the decision on whether to maintain the closure indefinitely would be analyzed at a meeting of the Lithuanian government on October 29, 2025.

ANTA recommends that international road transport operators consider this situation when planning routes, in order to avoid delays, blockages or logistical difficulties.

The institution emphasizes that it will continue to monitor the situation's developments and will promptly communicate any possible changes regarding the border crossing regime between Lithuania and Belarus.
