Ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, regional challenges and support in the European integration process have been the main topics discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Foreign Affairs Minister of Lithuania Kęstutis Budrys, on a working visit to Moldova.

The PM emphasized that the Moldovan government’s priorities were the  advancement on the path of integration into the European Union, economic growth and maintaining security. In this regard, the prime minister thanked the Vilnius official for the good cooperation between the two countries and highlighted the importance of Lithuania's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, due to start on 1 January 2027, for promoting the EU enlargement agenda.

During the meeting, the sides also underlined the strong cooperation in the field of investments and trade exchanges. Next week, a business forum will be held in Chisinau, with the participation of about ten Lithuanian investors. Presently, 53 companies with Lithuanian capital are working in Moldova. In 2025, the bilateral trade with Lithuania reached almost 50 million US dollars, up by 18 per cent compared to 2024. Moldovan exports to Lithuania totaled about 21 million US dollars and continue to show strong growth potential.

At the same time, starting from 1 April 2026, a direct Vilnius–Chisinau flight will be launched, which will especially boost economic relations and tourism.
