Moldovan Prime Minister held farewell meeting with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu held a meeting with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Moldova, residing in Bucharest, Dr. Mohammed Abdulghani M. Khayat, who is concluding his mandate.
Munteanu expressed gratitude for the diplomat’s contribution to the development of Moldovan-Saudi relations and wished him success in his future activities. In turn, the ambassador emphasized that he will maintain close ties with our country and will continue to promote opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
Last year, the General Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia entered into force, representing the first treaty aimed at supporting mutual collaboration in economy, trade, investment, development cooperation, education, science, culture, media, tourism, youth and sports.
Statistics show that in 2025, bilateral trade increased by almost 50% compared to 2024, reaching over 19 million US dollars. At the same time, last year, exports from our country to Saudi Arabia exceeded seven million US dollars.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were established on July 17, 1996.
