Winter conditions on national roads: partly covered with ice or snow
Road traffic on national roads in the Republic of Moldova is taking place under winter conditions, in some areas covered with ice or snow. During the previous night, intervention teams operated throughout the country to combat slippery conditions, in the context of the ongoing Yellow Code warning for icy roads.
According to the National Road Administration, road workers carried out patrol and intervention activities in the northern, central, and southern regions of the country. In total, 1,535.4 tons of anti-skid material were spread, with 120 special vehicles and 153 road workers mobilized.
Patrol activities and efforts to combat slippery road conditions are continuing, and the condition of the national road network is being constantly monitored in order to allow rapid interventions and ensure the safety of road users.
Today, the Yellow Code warning for icy roads remains in force. Depending on the evolution of weather conditions, light snowfall may occur in some regions of the country, and on certain road sections fog may form, reducing visibility.
Authorities recommend that drivers comply with traffic rules and adjust the speed to road conditions in order to prevent accidents.
